Why Consulting Margot
In many ways, Consulting Margot has existed for a long time. I decided to make it official since coaching and consulting became my primary income source after a round of layoffs in 2022 left me stunned. It started with building a few salesforce reports for a former colleague, which then morphed into helping them form a data cleanliness strategy.
Then, my cousin, who inherited the family business from his father, asked me for help and offered me a place to live in Aspen, CO. I couldn’t pass up that offer! Together, he and I created an employee code of conduct, training manuals, and standard operating procedures. I also helped him build promotional programming, grew the social media presence by over 400%, and implemented new reservation technology. I'm proud of what I've been able to help him accomplish in such a short time at such a young age.
Looking back on my career, I've been training for this inevitability the whole time. From my early days as a seller, I sought out folks who were the most successful and modeled myself after them, picking and choosing the best and trying to leave the rest. As my career progressed, it was always important to me to mentor others and to pass along my knowledge even when it wasn't in my job description. At Demandforce, I was given the opportunity to address each class of new hires, hundreds of them, during a rapid time of growth prior to our acquisition by Intuit. It thrilled me. I loved getting them hyped up for the opportunity in front of them and watching the trajectory of the sellers among them.
My time as an entrepreneur gave me the opportunity to build my own team of sellers while I slogged through the moras of the ever-changing cannabis industry. The lessons learned in those years could fill a book. But my team was always what I considered first when making business decisions. Coaching them to sell better and achieve their goals during incredible adversity was gratifying.
I knew I wanted to be in Sales Enablement when I went back to technology. Working at Shop-Ware was a wild ride that included titles including Sales Operations, Sales Enablement, SDR Manager, and Training Manager. I'm so grateful for my time there and the people who touched my life.
I get a lot of personal satisfaction from this work. Seeing the results. Watching the lights go on when a concept clicks or training sticks. I can’t wait to help more small businesses, leaders, and sellers excel in the ways they only dreamed possible. Are you next?
